As a member of Compass's original team of 15 San Francisco agents back in 2016, my business has evolved nearly as rapidly as our agency's emergence as the city's real estate leader. From day one, the Compass Collections app was a game changer for my clients, but it's really the entire array of Compass apps, brilliant support staff, can-do culture, and super smart branding, that collectively add immeasurable value for my buyers and sellers at every level.
Prior to diving into real estate over a decade ago, I was a project manager at a leading Silicon Valley search company where I lived and breathed risk management. That experience directly translates to a high percentage of seamless and stress-free real estate transactions for my clients simply by eliminating surprises. My laser-sharp focus is on achieving my clients' goals while maintaining the highest level of integrity and honesty in every transaction.
I grew up in San Francisco's Richmond District and have been in love with local real estate from the get go. The colorful history, the distinct architectural styles, and the ever-changing nuances of each unique neighborhood all provide me with never-ending excitement and intrigue.
When I'm not working with clients, I play with my wife and two little boys, ride waves at Ocean Beach, golf at local courses, ski tahoe, and actively participate in our amazing and inspiring community.

Max Wickham is a born-and-raised San Franciscan who spent his childhood wandering the city’s neighborhoods on lazy weekend walks, marveling at how each corner, like a snowflake or a pearl, had its own character but fit into the whole city mosaic. Educated in public schools and later at SF State, Max grew up loving the 7×7, and he’s been privileged to live in or spend time in North Beach, the Mission, Inner Richmond, Outer Sunset, and Chinatown. That deep, lived-in familiarity with San Francisco is at the heart of how he serves clients today.
With nearly a decade of experience in real estate marketing, Max sees every home as more than square footage and finishes. The best marketing, he believes, doesn’t just sell a house, it tells the story of what makes it you. After years behind the scenes at a leading Bay Area real estate marketing firm, he’s helped craft hundreds of campaigns that go far beyond photography, blending floor plans, immersive websites, thoughtful copy, and beautiful print materials. Most importantly, he’s collaborated closely with top agents to bring those stories to life, understanding their vision, amplifying their strategies, and ensuring every listing tells a cohesive, compelling story. That perspective gives him a rare understanding of how visuals, staging, and messaging combine to attract the right buyer. Max doesn’t just list homes, he curates experiences.
When representing sellers, Max’s goal is for them to feel that their personal history, the stories, the sweat, the laughter, has been honored, and for them to walk away confident in their next chapter. When working with buyers, he listens first, then negotiates fiercely. He’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves, dig into comps, liaise with contractors, or lean on his network to make things happen.
One of Max’s formative memories comes from childhood: watching the buyers’ agent hand his parents a bottle of champagne and the keys to their home in the Inner Richmond. That moment, the mix of relief, excitement, and promise, stays with him. He hopes every client gets more than a transaction; he hopes they feel seen, safe, and optimistic about what’s ahead.
Off the clock, Max’s life is rich with creative and community threads. In a past life, he toured with bands, handling logistics, pressing records, and booking shows, roles that taught him discipline, “on-your-feet” problem-solving, and how to keep people happy (or at least in the room). He’s an avid reader (think Pynchon, Bolaño, Vollmann, Roth), a skateboarder and surfer, and loves nothing more than afternoons at Ocean Beach with his wife and child.
Max is here to help you make your next home move feel meaningful, not just transactional. He’ll dig for what matters to you, treat your story with care, and fight hard for your best outcome.
